Meet the Coaches

Nuno

Nuno

Nuno holds several CrossFit certifications – Level 1, Movement & Mobility, Olympic Weightlifting, Nutrition and Nuno is a part of the CrossFit Endurance coaching staff on the west coast. He grew up in Portugal and moved to San Diego in 1991. He played competitive soccer and volleyball growing up and has continued after college. He was an NCAA Division I Track and Field athlete at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo - competing in the 200M (21.71 PR) and 400M (47.70PR) sprints. He worked in fitness centers in NYC and SD after earning his bachelors.

He began competing in triathlons in 2006, completing a 1/2 Iron Man, numerous sprint distance races, and a few Olympic distance triathlons until he found CrossFit in the summer of 2008 which has since helped him become a better overall athlete in all areas of fitness.  He began training clients full time at the beginning of 2009 and helped launch San Diego Anaerobic Endurance.  He still competes in triathlons & running races and recently set 2 new PRs - 5k time at the end of December 17:55, 1/2 Marathon time in January - 1:27:08 (almost a 2 minute PR) This year he’s dedicated himself to running once again and helping share the knowledge and passion he has to help anyone interested in living a healthier life.

 

Ayo

Ayo

Ayo has a Crossfit Endurance Certification and a strong background in running. She was a NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Athlete who raced in the 200M, 400M,and 1600M Relay. Ayo is an avid CrossFitter who competed in the 2009 Crossfit qualifiers some 3 months after joining CrossFit SoCal. In addition to CrossFit, she continues to run and in the latter part of 2009 raced several 5ks, a 10k and a half marathon, setting a personal record in nearly each race. Ayo has also seen a marked improvement in her CrossFit WOD times and overall metabolic conditioning. She attributes these successes to the combination of CrossFit Endurance and CrossFit.

Ayo works in the medical device industry and enjoys the opportunity to touch and improve lives through both her career in the medical arena and CrossFit Endurance. Ayo is always willing to talk to those just beginning on their path to fitness and those who are already passionate about fitness. She is excited to share with others what can be achieved through Crossfit Endurance! 

 

Mike

Mike Brown, Triathlon Coach

Mike Brown holds a CrossFit Endurance certification and is the head coach of Força Kai Triathlon. With a background in age group swimming, Mike has been involved with coaching and instructing swimmers since 1995, when he first coached a competitive team of summer league youths. He played a variety of sports at the US Naval Academy, and eventually began competing in endurance racing.  He discovered CrossFit in 2008, which he found improved all aspects of his athletic endeavors. 

Mike has posted competitve age group results at multiple endurance events using the CrossFit Endurance prescribed training methods, including multiple road and trail running races, and triathlons at various distances including Half-Ironman. He is passionate about sharing his love of triathlon with any athlete, from beginner to elite. When he is not training, Mike flies F/A-18 Super Hornets for the Navy. 

  

Ted

Ted

Ted has multiple Crossfit certifications, including Level 1, Running/Endurance, Football, Mobility/Recovery, and Starting Strength. He is a practicing family medicine and sports medicine physician, as well as a life coach. He has found Crossfit to be an amazing program to transform one's personal wellness, and utilizes his background in medicine and life coaching to support others who are committed to their health and fitness. Ted's passion is working with and inspiring individuals to realize and achieve their full potential, no matter where their starting point may be.

Ted's athletic pursuits has shifted depending on his living locations. He started out playing competitive tennis and ran cross country in the East Coast, and transitioned to snowboarding, mountain biking, trail running and more snowboarding out in Colorado. In San Diego, he has started to compete in triathlons and road races. He was a member of a team that captured second place at the 24-Hours of Adrenaline Mountain Biking Race, and recently completed a 1/2 Ironman while training with only Crossfit and Crossfit Endurance.
